Description

This is an antique, quack medicine bottle embossed, "C.T. Hurlburt" dating between 1852 and 1893.  Post that date, the business became a partnership and included "co." in the labeling.  In 1852,Charles T. Hurlburt began manufacturing homeopathic remedies in Manhattan, NY.  The business was also known as American Homeopathic Pharmacy.  Hurlburt's "remedies", made from alcoholic tinctures of green plants, were said to cure Croup, colds, flu and Diarrhea.  My father, an avid bottle hunter, found the bottle more than 40 years ago in the ruins of an old southern plantation in Virginia.  The hand-blown, cork topped bottle (cork is missing) is in excellent condition, free from breaks or cracks.  Clarity is very nice with only minor sediment deposit.  The vintage quack remedy bottle measures about 3.25" tall and 1.25" wide.  The bottle would make a great addition to any vintage bottle collection or as a gift idea for Manhattan or Homeopathic medicine history lovers, especially for the Civil War or Victorian Eras.
