Description

The Herm Sprenger KK Ultra Three Ring Bit is a an elevator gag bit that can help with horses who tend to lean on the bit or run on their forehand. The three ring gag is popular with event riders who may need to make quick adjustments. The KK Ultra three piece mouthpiece is anatomically designed to fit the contours of the tongue and bars and features a shortened center lozenge, rotated 45 degrees to fit perfectly in the horse's mouth.
The design of the KK Ultra bit is the direct result of extensive anatomical research of the horse's mouth. It was discovered that the cavity of the horse's mouth where the bit sits is smaller than originally assumed. The KK Ultra Bit is designed with a shortened link set at a 45 degree angle to adapt to the anatomy of the horses mouth, thus ensuring that when the reins are pulled, the round link rests fully on the tongue without squeezing it or applying pressure on the palate. This maximizes the tongue's sense of touch as clear instructions are given through the reins.
The three ring cheek design allows for four rein placement options. The cheekpiece of the bridle attaches to the small top ring. If the rein is attached to the large main ring, the bit acts as a hanging cheek snaffle, applying a small amount of poll pressure and spreading pressure evenly across the lips, bars and tongue. When the rein is fastened to the small bottom ring, the bit acts more like a gag, rotating up and applying more pressure to the poll and corners of the mouth. This can help the rider to lift the head and make smaller corrections with greater impact. This bit can be ridden with one or two reins, but it is recommended to use two if you are attaching to the bottom ring to avoid constant gag action from the lower ring.
The KK Ultra Vienna Bit is made with a Sensogan mouthpiece and stainless steel rings. Sensogan metal is an improvement on Sprenger's patented Aurigan metal. Sensogan has a reduced copper content as well as added manganese which helps to regulate the oxidation of the bit metal making the taste even more pleasant for the horse. The reduction of copper discharge into the horse's saliva also helps to keep the white gold color of the sensogan bit brilliant for a longer time.
Sensogan has improved the properties of aurigan by regulating the oxidative process
The bits taste good to the horse and encourage salivation and bit acceptance
White gold color has an elegant look
Sensogan does not tarnish easily
USDF and FEI approved metal
