DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this recently discovered and well-preserved, very scarce and quite early, vintage
Mission Orange Beverages
of
Worcester, Massachusetts
wood box advertising crate. It dates from about
1920 to 1935
and is vintage
pre-WWII.
It has wonderful black and orange ink stamped sidewall graphic iconography on all four sidewalls. The typography is an early, highly stylized, footed Western font, characteristic of
earlier late 19th to early 20th century ink
stamped graphic iconography found on similar period wood box crates. This
Mission Orange Beverages
wood box crate features all wood construction, with nailed corners and nailed tin reinforcing edge strips. The short sidewalls have cut-out side lifting handles and the wood floor is comprised of two wood planks. The interior of the box is highlighted by wood slat dividers that split the interior compartment into quarters. This is also another feature of an earlier wood box advertising crate. The crate has naturally dry, matte surfaces and hasn't been varnished or lacquered to enhance the ink colors. It remains as it was found, untampered with, 100% original and completely undisturbed. Produced in
Worcester, Massachusetts,
Mission Orange Beverages
soda was from an earlier time, when
New England soda bottlers
were prevalent and located in nearly every
New England
state. Absolutely terrific and very hard to find. From
Worcester, Massachusetts
(the
Bay State's
second largest city) with love.
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
