Description
This listing is aLarge-Sized Stoneware "ROOT BEER" Pitcher, attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, semi-ovoid pitcher with spurred handle, the spout with perforated strainer on interior, the sides decorated with a raised tavern scene beneath the words "ROOT BEER". Spout with Bacchus mask decoration. Different scenes on each side which are raised or figuaral.
One appears to have his feet in what looks like a basket? Stoneware ornately decorated in blues. This has some damage along the bottom rim and on the spout's handle. This is old. And there are chips. This is from a smoke free home. It is 11" high x 10" wide approximately. The tin lid has come off and may need to be repaired or just affixed to the metal base. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description. In all my years buying and selling I have never seen anything like this. If anyone has any information on this piece please pass it along (thanks.)
